Hyponoetics - Philosophy of Mind

Introduction to Hyponoetics

Hyponoetics is a critical metaphysical philosophy of mind postulating a fundamental unitary reality (Hyponoesis) that manifests itself in a multitude of various aspects and degrees of mind and matter (Exonoesis, Exohyle).

As a lay philosopher I studied a great part of the works of most Western philosophers and a great deal of modern scientists and thinkers. I came across many interesting theories of the Mind. However, in my opinion, all those views up to now are only fragmentary and mostly deal with the functions of the Mind and not with its essence or true nature.

My philosophy of Mind intends to establish a generic framework that allows to integrate knowledge from all fields of study, such as quantum physics, mysticism, Eastern and Western religion, psychology and of course philosophy.

Hyponoetics is a metaphysical philosophy insofar as it attempts to explain the most eminent intellectual questions and problems by drawing on the metaphysical principles of the greatest philosophers. However, I'm aware of the skeptical stance of modern thinkers towards the metaphysical systems of previous centuries and in general. Therefore I want to introduce a critical metaphysics that does not accept metaphysical assumptions and claims at face value but questions them critically and in the light of modern science and recent consciousness studies.

My philosophical contemplations on the Mind led me to my most important insight: Transrational Thinking (Paranoesis).
This is a new way of thinking that allows the volitional and direct access of the infinite resources of Hyponoesis (Universal Mind). Although Transrational Thinking is currently only based on philosophical insights, I hope to come up soon with a method for developing Transrational Thinking. I believe that mystics and great philosophers of all ages had access to Hyponoesis, not consciously though, but subconsciously. Transrational Thinking consciously and intentionally taps the infinite resources and knowledge of the Universal Mind. It has access to non-local information and paranoetic information.

The three fundamental theses of Hyponoetics are:

  1. There is a basic unitary reality (Hyponoesis) underlying all existing phenomena or entities and this reality is pure potentiality.
  2. All the mental and physical individual forms (Exonoesis, Exohyle) of our world are manifestations or actualizations of Hyponoesis.
  3. Through our Individual Mind we can access any information actually existing in our world or potentially residing in Hyponoesis.

Hyponoetics does not try to resolve philosophical problems by providing just another theory. Hyponoetics is a meta-philosophy that attempts to establish a generic, comprehensive frame of reference for any point of view or theory of Mind. Truth or facticity is not something given a priori, but something constituted through our Individual Mind and through Hyponoesis. Hyponoesis is pure potentiality out of which our Individual Mind actualizes or co-creates the world we experience through sense perception. This is not a solipsistic view, though, because the intrinsic structure of our Mind determines what forms we actualize out of Hyponoesis. They do not depend on our arbitrary will.

The ultimate view of Hyponoetics advocates for an absolute identity of all pluralistic phenomena in Hyponoesis. This means, that ultimately, the individual forms (Exonoesis, Exohyle) cannot be differentiated ontologically from Hyponoesis, but only phenomenally (cf. Schelling's Identity Philosophy).

That was a brief outline of my philosophy of Mind. More information can be found on the following pages:
